Is my data safe?
Yes, absolutely. SMS SoundBox processes everything on your device. Your SMS messages, transaction history, and OTPs never leave your phone. There are no cloud servers, no user accounts, and no tracking. Uninstalling the app removes all data completely.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, SMS SoundBox works 100% offline. All SMS parsing, transaction detection, OTP reading, and fraud analysis happens on your device without any internet connection. The only feature that may require internet is Google Play Billing for premium purchases.
Which countries are supported?
SMS SoundBox comes pre-configured with bank SMS formats for 10 Southeast Asian countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Brunei, and Laos. This covers 120+ banks and e-wallets. You can also add custom sender IDs for any bank not in the default list.
Does it forward my OTP?
No, never. SMS SoundBox does not forward, share, or transmit your OTPs to any external service, server, or third party. OTPs are detected, displayed on screen, read aloud, and optionally copied to your clipboard — all on your device only. Your OTPs are safe.
How do I add my bank?
Go to Settings and select your country. SMS SoundBox will automatically load the bank SMS formats for that country. If your bank is not listed, you can add a custom sender ID: go to Settings, tap "Custom Senders", and enter the sender ID that appears on your bank's SMS messages (e.g., "DBS", "MAYBANK", "BCA").
Why does it need SMS permission?
SMS SoundBox needs the RECEIVE_SMS and READ_SMS permissions to detect incoming bank messages and parse them for transaction details and OTPs. Without these permissions, the app cannot read your SMS and won't be able to announce payments. All SMS processing happens on your device — the permission is used solely for local parsing, never for uploading or forwarding.
The app is not announcing my bank SMS. What do I do?
Check these common fixes: (1) Make sure SMS permission is granted in Android Settings. (2) Check that your country is correctly selected in the app. (3) Ensure the app is not battery-optimized — go to Android Settings > Battery > SMS SoundBox and select "Unrestricted". (4) Make sure Do Not Disturb mode is off, or SMS SoundBox is added as an exception. (5) Try adding your bank's sender ID manually in Settings > Custom Senders.
How do I delete my data?
You can clear all data from within the app: go to Settings > Clear All Data. Alternatively, you can clear the app data from Android Settings > Apps > SMS SoundBox > Storage > Clear Data. Uninstalling the app also removes all data permanently.
